Overview
This prep course is focused on preparing NRCan Residential Energy Advisors (REAs) to conduct MURB assessments and take the certification exam. Participants master eligibility criteria, MURB terminology, and standard operating conditions. The course serves to develop a deep understanding of building envelope and mechanical data-collection requirements as well as a strong foundation for assessing MURBs.
Covering essential topics, this program equips participants with practical skills for MURB assessments. Participants gain expertise in assessing eligibility criteria, using MURB terminology, and navigating standard operating conditions. The course emphasizes hands-on elements such as selecting blower door tests and modelling MURBs in the HOT2000 software to thus properly prepare for NRCan and conduct MURB assessments as an REA.
*The MURBs course is available as an optional add-on to the Energy Advisor Prep Course. It is particularly applicable to those EAs who plan to work in more urban settings.
What sets this course apart is its practical approach and real-world relevance. Participants not only acquire theoretical knowledge, but also engage in exercises such as selecting blower door tests. The emphasis on quality assurance requirements distinguishes the course, thereby ensuring participants meet the highest standards in energy efficiency evaluations. Taught by industry experts, the course blends the latest insights with practical experience to offer a unique and directly applicable learning experience for NRCan MURB assessments.

Thanks to the Becoming Carbon Neutral course, I gained a better understanding of how the industry's approach to carbon neutrality is taking significant strides towards standardization, definitions, and requirements. Unfortunately, some requirements are challenging for a small northern jurisdiction like Yukon. But knowing the industry standards was tremendously helpful for figuring out where we are and where we need to be. I was able to identify areas where we already do well, pinpoint gaps, and allocate resources accordingly. The course helped me understand the overall trajectory that our organization should follow to achieve carbon neutrality.
Working with CIET has made developing a training plan for trade allies in my network easy. The team at CIET is knowledgeable, organized and passionate about delivering quality material in their course, and they work well to deliver customizable options for all of your training needs.
We have had great success with the NRCan Foundation Level Exam Exam Prep course and the Making the Case for Energy Management Projects. We look forward to offering more training programs to our trade allies.
The Becoming Carbon Neutral course helped frame the opportunities and challenges our customers and our own organization are going to face in becoming carbon neutral. It has served as a foundation, enabling our teams to better support our customers as they move through the process and be part of the solution.
The online CEM course was very professionally put together. The team instructors were really knowledgeable and engaging, and the exam was administered and very easy to take through proctorU.

A couple of months back, I was an unemployed immigrant new graduate looking for learning opportunities to enhance my skills when one of my friends shared with me about the discounted price for the Energy Management Professional 101 (EMP) course during this pandemic. I am really happy about what CIET is doing now. You guys are impacting so many young professionals like me.
We very much appreciate the efforts you have invested in virtual learning and encourage you to maintain this format. This cuts costs and optimizes time for everyone.
