Program Overview

The 50001 Certified Practitioner is a course for facility personnel, consulting professionals, auditors, or service providers with the appropriate technical experience in industrial and commercial energy systems and energy efficiency practices.

These professionals provide critical technical assistance to industrial and commercial facilities whose managers want to implement an energy management system in compliance with the ISO 50001 standard. Professionals who have completed the 50001 CP course have the expertise to assist organizations in implementing best practices in energy management based on ISO 50001. Also, they assist in developing energy performance and baselines that allow a facility to track performance improvements and develop best practices in incorporating metrics.

They also have the skills, knowledge, and performance capability to assist and evaluate companies in meeting the requirements of ISO 50001. Specifically, these professionals:

  • Work with organizations to establish and/or maintain an EMS that meets the requirements of ISO 50001;
  • Work with organizations to integrate ISO 50001 with their existing management systems.

CIET is the exclusively authorized Canadian trainer of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) for the delivery of the 50001 Certified Practitioner. Should you want to attend this course training but come from outside of Canada, please contact us.

In this course, you will learn to

  • Challenge the exam to become a 500001 Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems (CP EnMS).
  • Use core energy management system concepts.
  • Provide technical assistance to industrial and commercial facility operators that want to become ISO 50001 certified.
  • Modify current design and procurement procedures to meet ISO 50001 requirements.
  • Review an internal audit procedure based on ISO 50001.
  • Evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of an organization’s corrective and preventive action system.

This course is ideal for

  • Individuals working with organizations to establish and/or maintain an EnMS that meets ISO 50001 requirements
  • Individuals working with organizations to integrate ISO 50001 with their existing management systems
