Program Overview

This training program is intended for participants who have or want to create an energy engagement strategy incorporating the various aspects of behavioral and holistic organizational energy management.  The program will focus on the practice of influencing and modifying individual and collective behaviors to promote more energy-efficient and sustainable habits. It will begin with recognition that individual actions and choices play a significant role in energy consumption and environmental impact. By understanding and addressing the behavioral aspects of energy use, organizations, governments, and individuals can achieve meaningful energy savings and contribute to overall sustainability goals.  

 

Learning Objectives

In this two-day course, participants will learn to:

  • Establish realistic goals for an energy engagement strategy.
  • Assess the organizational proficiencies of an organization as they relate to achieving real energy reduction.
  • Examine the cultural of an organization and to design interventions in harmony with the culture.
  • Use a structured approach to identifying and selecting behaviours to influence based on impact, barriers and benefits.
  • Identify and articulate the energy and non-energy benefits from effective engagement.
  • Apply a six step systematic approach to designing an engagement strategy.
  • Evaluate an energy engagement strategy.

Those responsible for advancing energy management and sustainability within their organization through means beyond technological approaches including:

  • Energy managers/champions/leaders or coordinators.
  • Sustainability managers/champions/leaders or coordinators.
  • Individuals involved in implementing an Energy Management System (EnMS).
  • Organizational managers/leaders.
  • Public-sector program managers.
  • Service providers and consultants.
  • Anyone implementing technological retrofits requiring positive engagement and support of staff, occupants, users or tenants.
  • Resource efficiency managers.
