Program Overview

In collaboration with the Compressed Air Challenge, CIET is proud to offer the Fundamentals of Compressed Air Systems course. Industrial users are often unaware of the air flows in their facilities, do not track the costs related to air, and do not regularly monitor their systems outside of addressing maintenance issues. The aim of this training is to help raise awareness about the challenges and solutions related to compressed air.

During this one-day course, you learn how to calculate and reduce the costs of compressed air in your facility and how to better control compressed air for optimum reliability and productivity. You will use data from your own facility and complete hands-on exercises with a specific emphasis on bottom-line results. Furthermore, you will learn how to focus on achieving results in your own plant/facility.

In attending this training, participants gain a greater perspective on the costs associated with compressed air since the course serves as a catalyst for identifying and generating savings. On this point, in a recent survey conducted by the Department of Energy of the United States, a program demonstrated an impressive 80:1 cost-to-savings ratio among those facilities that had taken actions and measured energy savings.

This course is offered in collaboration with the Compressed Air Challenge (CAC).

compressedairchallenge

In this course, you will learn to

  • Define the costs as well as maintenance and system reliability issues related to compressed air.
  • Control basic compressors.
  • Determine how and when to measure power, energy, pressure, flow, and more.
  • Maintain efficient systems.
  • Develop an action plan (based on seven steps).
  • Identify system problems and estimate potential savings.

This course is ideal for

  • Plant/facility engineers
  • Maintenance supervisors
  • Utilities with industrial clients
  • Plant/facility maintenance and repair staff
  • Other personnel responsible for compressed air systems in an industrial setting
